Final Project Portfolio

My two favourite media arts portfolios were http://www.212box.com/ and http://www.kinetic.com.sg/main.html.
I like the box one because it is REALLY creative and fun although it still has a very professional look to it. I like the simpleness of it as well although I'm sure the making of something like that would take A LoT of work. I think my favourite part of it however is how they have a different number of 'teeny' boxes on each side and when you move over them, each one has a different (and simple) graphic in relation. Also, the colour scheme they use is kept fairly simply which adds to the simpleness of the whole piece. Also, I like the design they have when you click on one of the boxes. The only thing that really bothers me is that once you are in one of the little boxes I still haven't been able to figure out how to get back to the big box w/o having to retype the web page in the search bar!!

The other one I like is the robot-sweet looking one ! It's pretty cool. I like how everything on that page is all related to that theme. Like the 'loading in the T-1, T-0', that was kinda really cool! Also, how the little rocket circles the words that you can click on. I think it's also kinda neat how the screen kinda like shakes- like how it's not made to look exactly perfect. I also like how unique it is and that it does something different everytime you click. AWESOME is all I can really say to describe it!!! I like the colours they use too. It's like black and white except for the background and then like the red on the rockets and the robot. That's really sweet !

They both have some cartoonish characteristics but both remain looking very professional. I think that they stay looking professional because everything is very neat and clean and even when it isn't (like in the robot one), it is apparent that it is supposed to be like that to add to the effect. Using flash, it can become very confusing and it becomes VERY easy to make things jerky or off centered so in order to make it look good, we will need to watch for all of those setbacks. Both of these are good works to aspire to. I would like my work to look professional like these but still capture my own creativity.

I want to do something with rainbows.. like you click on each colour of the rainbow and it would break off from the rest and lead into a different area and go to whatever it was that it was going to!!

Some other ideas/possible themes could be:
  • rain

My Morph

.
.
.
.

OhhhKAY!! So what do i like about my ppprrrroject? I like my second frame. And my little stick ♥ (not stickley... my stick on my project :)). I like how the transformation is a gradual change and not just like 'BAM' it's different!! I also like how my pink changes to rainbow!

What I don't like is that the second and third frame look kinda weirdly cartoonish. It was hard to keep everything still looking somewhat realistic with the items changing into completely different items. It probably would have looked better if the lollipop was not all colourful and was a solid colour... aw it would have looked cute if there was one of those cute little white santa clauses on there !
.
If I had to do this project again, I would probably pick a different object to morph my pod into. Or change the colours of the lollipop. Also, making the two middle objects more realistic would probably make it look a lot better too.

Morph..

Okay, so MORPHING!. So my original idea was morphing myself but I don't really want to morph myself lol!! So things that have an interesting shape/design that I could morph are:

  • Emily Brown -> boat

  • flower -> ladybug

  • teeter-totter -> bow

  • lollipop -> ipod

Oooh I like the lollipop idea. The idea is a rollin' and a formin' ! Okay, so my little lollipop -> 0-- is gonna split down the middle and then the balls gonna roll down the stick into the place of wings!! and then my stick's gonna keel over and become legs and antennae ! it's gonna be GRRRReat!

Okay, soooo new idea.. I'm keeping my lollipop. but it's going to turn into an ipod ♥

Global Flag ♥

After the initial 'hump,' of brainstorming, the project got a lot easier to do! After brainstorming ideas of what represents being global, ideas of how I would make my map were just FLOWIN'! My favourite part of my map is my sweet rubiks cube in the center! Also, it's not overly chaotic and when you look at it, you get ideas of what it represents. I also like the redish smudge thing around the sun which looks really cool!

One thing I don't like about my project is the wires. Although they represent well communication throughout the whole world, the colours kind of clash with the colour scheme of the map.

If I had more time to work on my project, I would try to do something more with the wires. Kaela thinks the wires look like spagetti.. Brown agress... That's not a good thing, Miss George! Maybe if I added 'pluggers' or somethnig, it would look a little better!!
REPRESENTATIONS:
rubik's cube - being united.
sun - being global.
Orange and purple are like opposites so they are together to represent all people coming together.
the two lines - equality.
wires - staying connected.

My Cultural Symbol ♥

Okay, so, here's my cultural symbol... As you can see it is very symbolic!! HAA! So I like my super big 'K' obviously standing for Keelan and I actually like how my 4 pictures actually look pretty good although at first I didn't think I would be able to make them myself. And I like my little silver/brown car!! ♥

One thing I don't like is how the edges around my symbol are a little uneven. The shape is a different one so it was hard to get all the sides the same size!!!

If I had more time to work on this project I think I would like to make the background shape a little more symbolic!!! Because a pentagon does not really mean anything to me.. It reminds me of a pencil.. which is SOOO not cool :)
